No Bad News at Tattered Rose......Just Beauty!

Our new shipment of garment-dyed, fabulously artsy linen, silk & bamboo clothing (coats, shirts, dresses, pants) arrived yesterday, just as I was set to go home for the day.

Do you think I could leave that box unopened? NO! I quickly opened it, pulling out the fitted linen long duster coats in grey and black...and then the oversized boyfriend shirts in fabrics & colours of silk and bamboo that made me swoon....and the linen dress with tucks in the back waist for shaping and a voluminous, uneven hem skirt.....oh my! Today, I will be steaming and displaying these gorgeous, textured garments...can't wait!!!

I figure with the bad news everywhere, the bad budget that came down yesterday from our Alberta government and all the things that could go wrong...this is MY way of dreaming it out of existence, if only for a little while: to find beauty where I can and if that means shopping at Tattered Rose, then gosh darn it, I'm gonna do it!

Join us as soon as you can. There is such loveliness to be worn!

Yes, Tattered Rose has some of the most amazing clothing & jewellery around BUT none of that matters if we don't have customers......and we appreciate each and every one of our customers.

P.S. This belt is no longer available but we DO have a wonderful collection of hand-made leather belts coming in about 5 weeks or so. Yippee!

What's Ahead for Early Fall 2015

I know Spring has hardly begun and we have still more beautiful Spring clothing coming but I can hardly contain my enthusiam for the extremely beautiful maxi dresses with cool denim and lace jackets and coats that we will put together in our own Tattered Rose way!

Prairie Romance

You don't have to live in the west to be a Tattered Rose customer but it DOES help because that's where our store is located....in Edmonton, Alberta. Home of the cowboy/cowgirl? Not as much as people who don't live here might believe, except maybe in Calgary during the Calgary Stampede.

The western influence in fashion comes and goes but the the Cowgirl-on-the Prairies idea can still be seen in glimpses at Tattered Rose because that is where the idea for our shop began.....lost amongst the western duds of our western store named "Way Out West".

The first version of Tattered Rose, an off-shoot of Way Out West, opened in 1999 at the Forks Market in Winnipeg. Through the years, we have evolved into the version you see today....an eclectic mix of old & new; western & urban; romantic & sleek.

We've come a long way........oh yeah!

Sid Dickens at Tattered Rose

I have decided to once again to concentrate on selling the Sid Dickens tiles (memory blocks, as they are also called) that I have in my shop and in storage. Some of these tiles are very retired, meaning that they are no longer being produced and therefore are highly collectible, rare and valuable.

The newer tiles start at $80 and they go up from there, depending on the rarity. I am in no hurry to sell them, since they do become more valuable as time goes by.

I have Sid Dickens tiles in my own home, as well as the store and I just love them! They really do make a wonderful alternative to a picture hanging on the wall.
