Moody (shades of) Blue at Tattered Rose!

After what seems like forever since the broken arm interfered with my life & love of fashion (and my shop) I have become inspired again...YES, in the middle of a cold spell that has put the brakes on Spring! This cold snap will pass and soon, we will be enjoying warmer weather, buds on the trees and birds singing their little hearts out.

This epiphany about BLUE came about slowly, like a gentle breeze blowing through my ears....it took a while for it to sink in.

The last few years, I became obsessed with the oversized boyfriend shirts we were selling at Tattered Rose. Worn with jeans and combat boots on a casual day of working in the shop or running errands, it was comfortable and sexy in a I-borrowed-this-shirt-from-my-boyfriend kind of way. Plus, it hid a lot of sins, if you know what I mean!

I decided to make myself a few shirts because I wanted more of them. So I made a chambray blue one and then a dark blue floral print one. I was a bit perplexed because I haven't worn blue for a while, except for jeans, of course. So I wasn't sure if I would wear it but I have worn it and washed it a LOT! Then recently, while pulling this dark blue floral shirt out of the dryer for the umpteenth time, I realized that Tattered Rose has been lacking in blue for a while, so I wanted to correct that oversight. And then I started noticing blue everything.....cars, signs, clothing, trim on buildings, etc. Blue obsession, eh?

I love many shades of blue....French blue, chambray blue, denim blue, navy blue, Indigo blue, powder blue, teal blue, etc. This year, you will see a lot more blue in the store.....from transition (now) right into Fall. Blue is a universal colour. It is strong, it is courageous and loyal. And there is a shade of blue that is perfect for every woman! Navy blue is a great alternative to black but still has the feeling of being dressed up, if that's what you are going for.

Denim blue is perfection....goes with anything you can ever think of wearing with it from pink to green to black or brown.....cream or white. Well, you get the picture.

Did you know that for the first 7 years of my life, my Mom dressed me in blue (instead of girly pink) because she thought it would show off my sky blue eyes......now a faded blue, sadly. Then, for a time, I rebelled against blue and refused to wear it for years until I started to love the colour blue again. That was a long time ago....but part of my history with the colour blue.

So, I would like to share that with my customers, starting right now. We have some gorgeous blue items in at the moment with more to follow.

This is exciting!!
